Activities at The Willow

Our belief is that mental stimulation plays a vital part in providing our residents with a happy and healthy environment. We employ two activity leaders from Monday to Friday, one providing three full days and the other two half days.

Our activities include flower arranging, games and quizzes, arts and crafts, gentle exercise to music, sing-a-longs and regular resident’s meetings. We also enjoy visits from local children who come to entertain as well as a monthly service from St Mary’s Church.

We have wifi throughout the Home and laptops, iPads, kindles and wireless speakers are available for those wishing to use them, either in communal areas or the privacy of their own rooms.

We have a weekly visiting PAT dog called Cocoa. She and her owner give up much of their time to visit the residents and their appearance always brightens the day. We have the luxury of a theatre very nearby and have enjoyed trips to see shows and film showings.

We are fortunate to have our own ‘Little Shop’ and residents can buy sweets, toiletries, small gifts and cards from there. We will expand the range of goods as necessary to ensure there is something for everyone.

Because the Home is so small the activity organiser can get to know each and every person intimately. Residents are questioned as to their wishes around activity provision and tailor made programmes can be incorporated.

We also have visiting hairdressers.

J.C, Resident

“I am very happy living here at The Willow. I had no one before; the carers are lovely to me. They are great human beings. We really appreciate how we are looked after here.”

D.W, Resident

“It’s absolutely perfect, it’s so lovely. If someone asked me what the best place is, I would say here. I love it, I love it, I love everything about it. The food is lovely and you’re always the same. You’re always trying to make things nice.”

B.T, Resident

“I count my blessings living here. Last night we had the television on and there was community singing. The patients were all singing and following the telly. I’ve never been in a place where the patients were happy and singing. I just hope the Lord spares me so that I can enjoy it.”
